TOM WITTROCK 01 | Gibson Les Paul 1958 1960 1959 Vintage Electric Guitar

Tom Wittrock is one of the most famous collectors of Gibson Les Paul Standard Vintage Electric Guitars from the years 1958, 1959 and 1960. He is well respected as the host of the Les Paul Forum. Due to the Sunburst finish – introduced in 1958 – they are commonly known as “Bursts”. These guitars easily acquire between $250,000 and $500,000 today.

The Beauty of the 'Burst'Three years ago I had the chance to film a custom guitar video with Burst Collector extraordinaire Tom Wittrock in Springfield, MO. The Gibson Les Paul Standard made in the years of 1958, 1959 and 1960 is typically referred to as a “Burst” because of the beautiful cherry sunburst finish on the often highly flamed maple top. Tom Wittrock owns over 14 of these highly sought after vintage electric guitars. Even in a moderate condition a vintage burst easily fetches between $250,000 and 350,000. Tom shared his extensive knowledge with us over the course of two long days.
