Tom Wittrock is one of the most famous collectors of Vintage Gibson Les Paul Standards from the years 1958, 1959 and 1960. He is well respected as the host of the Les Paul Forum. Due to the Sunburst finish – introduced in 1958 – they are commonly known as “Bursts”. These guitars easily acquire between $250,000 and $500,000 today.
In the second Custom Guitar Video sequel of the Tom Wittrock feature, Collector Tom Wittrock (Springfield, MO) tells the story how he got infected with the “Les Paul Virus” in 1971. He met Billy Gibbons of ZZTop and a life-long relationship with these beautiful instruments began. He purchased his first Sunburst Les Paul in 1975 in a little store in Springfield, MO for $2000. In 1975 nobody understood why somebody would pay more money for a used guitar than for a new one. Beautiful impressions of his first guitar named “Curly”, a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard Serial Number: #0 7448.

Even people that know Johnny Cash’s music really well and know that he was married don’t really know that much about June Carter. So finding out about her really helped to inform my performance and to bring her to the front in a way that she has never been before.

What’s money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.
