Which features make a vintage Gibson Les Paul Standard from 1958, 1959 or 1960 desirable? Do they have to be in mint condition? Is it the flame? We were looking for answers. Burst Collector Extraordinaire Tom Wittrock was the first stop on our quest for the best guitar on the planet.

Tom Wittrock explains in this custom guitar video how he chooses the keepers of vintage Gibson Les Paul Standards from 1958, 1959, or 1960. The mystery of the Les Paul 1958 Reissue – made in 1959 is solved as well. Tom explains the sound differences between a vintage Les paul Standard and a Reissue. Beautiful footage of Tom’s original 1959 Les Paul # 9 2012. Half a year later we met The Burst Brothers in a hotel in Charlotte, NC. They explain why Gibson produced their best Les Paul guitars at the end of the 1950’s. The music is a composition by Tom Wittrock himself, guitars are played by Tom and his brother Bart. What kind of Guitars? Vintage Bursts, of course…
