Very detailed review of the discontinued extremely rare handmade Custom Guitar Effects Pedal THE SPIN ACHER from JACQUES, France. Walking the fine line between Tremolo and Leslie. The ultimate tribute to the fabulous sound of rotating speakers. High-gain, light-activated, true by-pass.
I used a Custom Electric Guitar, a Michael Spalt Totem Voodoo guitar with two Spalt-customized Lindy Fralin pickups and an aged Tandler Custom Electric Guitar | Beauty Goldtop (Honduras Mahogany, Brazialian Board, Michigan Maple Top) also with custom Fralins.
The amp is a Divided by 13 JRT 9-15 (in the EL84 setting). The sound setting of the amp is the same with both guitars. The cab is a 2×12 half-open 65Amps cab with a Celestion Alnico Blue and a G12H Anniversary 30W (british production). The amp is close-miked with a vintage Neumann KM 54 at the Alnico Blue speaker.
I did not apply any EQ in my recording software. Down and dirty…

I love the way how both guitars slightly break up when you push them a bit harder. The Spalt Totem Voodoo has a bolt on neck and strings through body design which makes it respond almost like a Telecaster. The neck pick-up is my choice on the long Spalt take. It’s a P90. On the opening piece of the clip, I actually play the bridge pickup. I have tried to be dynamic, so you can get different nuances in the sound. Especially the Spalt has these wonderful chimes on top of the sound with open chords. The Tandler Beauty has a more dark flavor, but still very crisp and twangy. I actually found it interesting to listen to the sound and not “watch” the video. You catch more details…
