Michael A. Lewis builds Custom Archtop Guitars and Custom Mandolins under his name “Lewis”. He is also the only authorized Custom Guitar Maker who builds D’Angelico guitar replicas made in USA. Custom Guitar Video went on a mission to find the roots of D’Angelico guitars.
When I traveled to Grass Valley, CA I had no idea what to expect. My friend Richard Glick of Fine Guitar Consultants in San Diego highly recommended to meet Michael and spend a couple of days with him. I happened to meet one of the nicest and most humble master luthiers I have ever met. Michael builds, besides his own branded “Lewis” stringed instruments, the official D’Angelico replicas “Made in USA”. His “Lewis” Archtop Guitars, Mandolins and Mandocellos are among the finest instruments you can find on the market of hand-made high-end Custom Guitars today.
